Hello tenants!

Welcome to The Ethical Lettings Agency CIC. We’re here to help you find your next home. We don't charge any fees, and we go out of our way to support you should you encounter any problems whilst a tenant with us.

We are different to other agencies. We work hard for our tenant customers as well as our landlord customers. We look to find quality properties from across the rental market to suit all budgets. If you live or move into one of the homes we manage, then you can be assured that we will provide a quality and professional service whilst you live in the property.

We work across the rental market and offer a range of choices for you to suit your budget.
We check the standards of properties we let and manage and we work with and support landlords to look after properties. We carry out pre-arranged property inspections on the properties that we manage, so you can easily report anything of concern to us in person.
We are members of the UK Association of Lettings Agencies (UKALA) and protect deposits through either the Deposit Protection Scheme which is Government-ran, or my.deposits.co.uk which is Government approved.
As a social enterprise lettings agency, we are here to support our tenant customers to help you manage your tenancy, preventing arrears and evictions. We know peoples circumstances can change (loss of a job, relationship breakdown etc.) and we work hard to keep people in their homes for as long as possible. We go above and beyond what you'd expect from a letting agency!

How to become one of our tenants

When you view a property with us and decide you like it, we require a £50 holding deposit from you (this will then come off your advance rent/bond) in order to start your application. 

We will then carry out a number of checks, including checking your income/employment status, and past housing references. We also do credit checks but bad credit doesn't automatically exclude you (we take everything into account).

​We say to all applicants: tell us everything we require! That way we can try our very best to get you a property.


If you are on a low income and/or are in receipt of housing benefit, that's no problem to us! And if you need some extra support, we will introduce you to our partners who can help you. We want to make sure you have the best possible chance of finding and keeping a rented home.

If you withhold any important information that we then discover (e.g. a past eviction or CCJ) and means we can't offer you the property, you will likely not get your holding deposit back.

Tenants living in properties we manage

If you live in a property we manage on behalf of a landlord, we will provide you with information on how to contact us, and what to contact us for. We will carry out regular inspections of the property and it’s best if you are there so we can discuss anything you need to tell us (for example, a repair, or if you may be thinking of leaving). We are here to deal with any queries or problems you have that relate to your rented property, including all repairs and rent matters.
